ATTENTION HIP-HOP FANS!!! If you consider yourself well versed in 90’s hip-hop, then Brooklyn’s Digable Planets are synonymous with greatness. Well, guess what…the legendary trio, that broke up in 1995 and reunited once in 2011, is back for a summer tour.
Comprised of Ishmael “Butterfly” Butler, Mary Ann “Ladybug Mecca” Vieira , and Craig “Doodlebug” Irving, Digable Planets was able to make waves in the 90’s with songs like “Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat), “9th Wonder,” and “Where I’m From.”
Creating jazz influenced hip-hop and rap in the same vein as A Tribe Called Quest, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, and The Pharcyde, Digable Planets are truly innovators in the scene.
They were originally going to play one show at the Ardmore Music Hall, but due to high demand and a sold out first night, they will be playing on July 28 and 29. They will be supported by fellow 90’s rappers Camp Lo. Tickets are still available for the second night.
Go to this show. Witness history. Be cool like that.
