West Philadelphia based DIY indie rock power trio The Daylight Savings And Loan has announced the release of their newest effort, Tragically Magical, on Skittish Rescue Recordings.
Written and recorded over four years from 2011 to 2015 in various locations, including Dr. Dog’s Mt. Slippery studio, by vocalist and guitarist Michael Bradley and finalized last month, this album has a lot to offer it’s listeners.
The opening track “Drift Off,” kicks everything off with a psyched out, upbeat surfy vibe, while the following tracks take the listener through an array of rock, blues, instrumental psychedelia and more. My personal favorite, “Parade Day,” finds the band showing out their indie rock chops in the vein of Guided By Voices or Pavement all while maintaining a unique aspect to their sound that I am failing to pinpoint.
All in all, this album is a testament to the quality of music that is coming out of Philadelphia – more specifically it’s DIY scene.
The Daylight Savings And Loan will be releasing this album at The Fire this Friday with support from Trash Night, Professor Maybe, and Blood Sport. Come out and support these guys and buy local music!
