In just 11 days, The Ardmore Music Hall will transform into the ONLY place to be in the Philadelphia area. Why you ask? LIVE FROM THE LOT! That’s why.
As of last week, the full lineup has been released. Spot On The Lot contest winners The Phonies opening up the festival on Saturday, followed by two full days of amazing acts on two stages in the parking lot of the Ardmore Music Hall. All of that PLUS a Friday night kickoff party featuring Tom Hamilton’s American Babies & Electron and Sunday night post party with Pink Talking Fish!
With so much talent on the lineup, it’s hard to pick out which bands we are most excited to see, but after much thought and consideration here are some of our favorite acts playing Live From The Lot!
Foundation Of Funk – Like Snarky Puppy and The Revivalists weren’t enough to get the crowd moving and draw a crowd… George Porter Jr. and Zigaboo Modeliste of THE METERS will be collaborating with Eric Krasno and Neal Evans of Soulive on Saturday afternoon as Foundation of Funk. This act speaks for itself. The Meters are funk royalty and Soulive’s Eric Krasno has got to be one of the most versatile (and face melting) guitarists in the game today. This act is going to have everyone foaming at the mouth for the funk. This legendary performance will be happening in your backyard, Philly!
The Greyboy Allstars – Jazz fusion wizards with a hefty side of funk, the Greyboy Allstars are exactly that – All Stars. Bringing their brand of fast paced, technical funk and roll on Sunday afternoon will surely keep the party moving and grooving into the night. When it comes to the saxophone, Karl Denson is the man with the plan. Chris Stillwell and Michael Andrews switch off between guitar and bass (and they both absolutely RIP), Aaron Redfield is technical, groovy and composed on the drum kit, and Robert Walter keeps the whole thing cohesively groovy on the keys. Make sure your face doesn’t get stuck in “funk mode” after their show!!
Darla – West Philadelphia’s own rising stars, Darla, will be playing an early afternoon set on Sunday that you won’t want to miss. Steadily gaining headway in the local music scene, this 8-piece band comprised of current Drexel students will groove their way into the hearts of all in attendance. This band is talented, catch them now so you can tell your kids you saw them before they made it big! Shout out to the local talent and dedication that makes the Philadelphia music scene what it is – the best!
Snarky Puppy – Probably the largest band playing Live From The Lot, Snarky Puppy’s 13 piece funk fusion ensemble will be playing two sets over the weekend. If the band’s two Grammy’s don’t speak to their reputation, then I suggest you see them perform. Watching 13 talented musicians tear it up in perfect harmony before your very eyes? There aren’t many things that come close to being that awesome.
The Revivalists – New Orleans based Americana rockers The Revivalists will be playing one of the headlining slots on Saturday. This 7-piece band has been creating a tremendous amount of buzz in the music scene in the last year by topping charts and blowing away live performances. We are super excited to see what kind of jams these guys pull out during their show! Also catch vocalist David Shaw on Saturday night with the Everyone Orchestra!
