FUNK ALERT! FUNK ALERT! NOLA funk LEGENDS Galactic will be headlining the Electric Factory this Thursday with none other than jazz/funk/soul powerhouse Soulive.

‘Lest ye be living underneath a rock for a lifetime, you have heard about the music of Galactic. Formed over 20 years ago by drummer Stanton Moore, guitarist Jeff Raines, bassist Rob Mercurio, keyboardist Rich Vogel, and saxophone player Ben Ellman, Galactic has become a staple in the NOLA funk and jazz scenes as well as gained worldwide recognition for their immense talent.

Combining the influence of the historical New Orleans music heritage as well as their own influences in genres like hip-hop, jazz, rock and blues, their sound is like no other. Galactic has had the pleasure of performing with many different well-known musicians such as Macy Gray, Widespread Panic, Corey Glover, The Allman Brothers Band, The Soul Rebels, and many many more.

Joining them this thursday will be NYC funk trio Soulive. Soulive is guitar mastermind Eric Krasno, Alan Evans on drums and his brother Neal Evans on the keys. Known for their mesh of upbeat jazz and funk instrumentals, Soulive is truly a must-see. All three members of Soulive are also members of the newfunk powerhouse Lettuce.

Neither of these bands need me to go on. Their reputations precede them, and they know how to throw it down. It’s a surprise that their show hasn’t sold out already, but I expect it will! GO SEE THIS SHOW!
