Something amazing is happening in Brooklyn, New York.
Today, Flatbush, Brooklyn hip-hop trio Flatbush Zombies released their debut album, 3001: A Laced Odyssey. Having accrued a large and deadicated following over the years from the work of just two mixtapes and various successful features, today is a big day.
The Flatbush ZOMBiES consists of Zombie Juice, Erick “The Architect” Elliot, and Meechy Darko. All three grew up together as kids, but did not start music together till 2010. They released their first mixtape, titled D.R.U.G.S., in 2012. Receiving great feedback from the public, they continued to work and dropped their second mixtape, BetterOffDead, the following year.
Often associated with the Brooklyn hip-hop collective Beast Coast, the Flatbush Zombies are apart of a larger movement. Comprised of The Underachievers, Pro Era, and Flatbush Zombies, Beast Coast is a supergroup of conscious Brooklyn lyricists. While they all have their own separate projects, they often collaborate together for songs and mixtapes. Joey Badass, of Pro Era, recently released his single, Ready, and was featured on fellow Pro Era artist Nyck Caution‘s recent mixtape, Disguise the Limit. With all this good music recently, it is a great time to be a fan of New York hip-hop.
