I’ve been going through some serious writers block recently. However, I feel compelled to put something up on the site. Here are a couple of songs that have been reoccurring on my laptop screen from the past couple of days! (My posts will get better, I promise!)

Ween – Voodoo Lady

Ween has been showing up more and more in my musical rotation as of late. They’re goofy, they’re fun, and their songs are catchy as hell. I’m not sure why I didn’t listen to them when I was in high school, they would have fit perfectly into my teenage state of mind. I guess I was too busy trying to seem cool.

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong – Zydeko

Well, I must be on a “goofy but talented” band kick. PPPP grooved their way into my heart after seeing them once. They’re all insanely talented musicians and have a knack for vibing with the crowd – at some points it’s hard to tell who is having more fun. (I feel like I said that before.) Anyway, the lyrics of this song definitely speak to their personality as a band. “The purpose of the show is raging with the band.”

Courtney Barnett – Nobody Really Cares If You Don’t Go To The Party

It’s true. She’s cute (even dressed as Freddy Krueger) and Australian. Her songs are awesome and her band shreds. The surfy, fuzzed out, poppy punk sound is reminiscent of Wavves and Nirvana at the same time.  And I’m a sucker for badass female front women.

Papadosio – Cloud Found

To be fair, Papadosio is almost always in the rotation for me. They’re one of my favorite bands to listen to and to see. Their jams are uplifting when I’m feeling down and they’re just so much fun. I can’t find a link to the exact version of Cloud Found i’ve been bumping recently, but this one is good enough.

Keller Williams – She Rolls

Keller recently came to town at the TLA with his newest project – The Keller Williams KWahtro. The show was amazing, as per usual. Rodney Holmes is a beast behind the kit. I was hoping for this song during the show, but at the end of the day every song by KW is a good song.
