This weekend is packed with music in the Philadelphia area and beyond and if you have any sense, you’ll catch as many of these acts as you can.
This is going to be a great show. Two acts who are really up and coming. Both featured on the Buzzfeed/Spotify artists to know in 2015. Check them out on Spotify here:
Cannot believe they got Nightmares on Wax to play this brand spanking new venue already. This venue is going to be all the talk of 2015 in Philly. Aaron Ruxbin is working with them to make it huge. And it will be. This show is going to be something special.
Another show that’s gonna be insane. Haven’t been too many TLA shows this winter, but Kap Slap is sure to heat things up a bit. If you’re going, wear your best dancing shows and most comfortable outfit cause you won’t be able to sit still.
Arguably my pick for the weekend in Philadelphia. Nope. Just decided. DEFINITELY my pick for the weekend. Aesop Rock is a hip hop legend. Paired with his good friend Rob Sonic, a monster on the mic in his own right, they make Hail Mary Mallon and they smash it on their new record Bestiary. Oh… I’m sorry… that’s not good enough? How about DJ freaking Abilities is gonna be there. No one cuts like Abilities. This is going to be the highlight of the weekend.
If you’re not going to Union Transfer Friday night you better be at the TLA. Local hip hop at its finest. These kids are growing up and you can tell. This show should be fire as well.
OR if you’re going to be in New York this weekend – this is the place to be. Tom Hamilton and his American Babies are tearing it up lately and will be doing a tribute to modern Americana. We talked to him yesterday and trust us, this show is can’t miss if you’re in the area.
I cannot wait for this show. I need some reggae in my life. It’s been too damn cold.
Will also be trying to hit this show as well. NMA don’t get around Philly too often, so when they do, you shouldn’t miss it. Oh, and Ardmore Music Hall is absolutely one of the best new venues in the area.
Elton John @ Santander Arena (Reading, PA)
Mod Sun @ Webster Hall (New York)
Another interesting rapper (calls his genre “hippy hop” which is… accurate) who is coming up huge and making a name for himself. Oh, and if you can’t catch him in New York Saturday night, don’t worry, he’s at the Barbary here in Philly Sunday night!
