According to Festive Owl, the Firefly App leaked a lineup earlier. It’s pretty similar to rumors that have been swirling about and would be odd if this didn’t resemble the lineup if and when it does come out.

I was beginning to think there wouldn’t be an actual Firefly festival, and instead, the organization would just have fun accepting funny memes from their fans and giving away free “tickets.”

Alas, it looks like a festival may actually happen, and the lineup is… interesting.

Honestly, for someone my age who grew up with their parents playing them every Beatles record ever, how could I not want to see Sir Paul? I would argue that The Killers and Kings of Leon are kind of weak headliners, but will put on great shows, regardless of my stupid opinions.

I’ve never gotten into the Morrissey is God thing, but that’ll be cool for those who did, I guess.

Zedd and Steve Aoki are the big EDM names because why not?

Snoop Dogg will be hilariously awesome.

Kid Cudi will either smash it or be wildly disappointing.

Hozier, Bastille, Walk the Moon, and Cold War Kids are all making the most of their Radio 104.5 fifteen minutes of fame before they each have to prove whether or not they have staying power. (Guys, who’s Gotye?)

Odesza continues to take a page out of the Big Gigantic playbook and play every festival ever.

Sublime with Rome will never be Sublime.

I’m excited to see Cage the Elephant since I missed it last time because my stupid cousin can’t stupid plan anything cause he’s stupid and I hate him and I’m still bitter. Just kidding, Stephen.

Remember when Foster the People headlined Sunday night a couple years ago? That was awkward, eh? Hey… at least they’re not headlining this time.

Okay that was a lot of cynicism, but I actually am excited for this festival. Notables about whom I have nothing sarcastic to say:

Modest Mouse, Empire of the Sun, AWOLNATION, Gary Clark Jr., Matt & Kim, Dirty Heads, White Panda, Lettuce, RJD2, Nick Catchdubs.

Tickets will presumably go on sale again when the lineup is released.

  1. Dear “Frustrated Cousin”,

You are welcome. This cousin seemed to have planned perfectly, for now you have yet another act to look forward to at this years festival. If it was not for his savvy planning and expertise, you’d be just looking forward to Sir Paul and Snoop. But now you’ve hit a trifecta.

You’re welcome. This cousin seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Wise men make wise decisions.

      1. Kind of weird to include Bastille in the same “level” as Walk the Moon, Cold War Kids, and Hozier IMO. I personally think they are a step above the others. Also, doesn’t the fact that Walk the Moon played Firefly in 2012 and is back again for 2015 prove that they have staying power? Side note: Contrary to popular belief, Radio 104.5 DID play Walk the Moon songs before “Shut Up and Dance.”

  2. I was just saying right now all those bands are hotter than they’ve ever been because of air time and love from Radio 104.5 between Winter Jam and Birthday Show. Will just be interesting to see if they can capitalize on all of this exposure.
